Love after Love Poem By Derek Walcott

Love After Love

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

And say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Koala ~ Australia Day

Teddy the Koala

August22

Yesterday, we helped rescue a Koala that got stranded in our backyard. My daughter affectionately nicknamed him “Teddy”. He was relocated two houses down the hill, where he could feast on some delicious gum leaves, without being barked at by our dog. We are very lucky that our dog alerted us to the Koala and neither party were injured. Thank you to Don and Sibylle from the Koala Rescue Hotline for helping us help Teddy the Koala. We discovered Teddy was a male and in good health……a happy ending.
